Who can benefit from Invisalign?

How Invisalign works
Dr. Yao takes digital impressions of your teeth and bite and using 3D software plans your treatment. In conjunction with his Invisalign technical rep, he makes a series of clear, plastic aligners—smooth plastic trays that fit closely over your teeth.
The aligners are designed to move the teeth gradually into their final position. Every two weeks you change your aligners to the next in the series. Taking care of your aligners is easy: just take them out when you want to eat or brush and floss your teeth. You’ll visit Dr. Yao about every 6 weeks for a checkup and to monitor your progress.
Treatment typically takes a year for an adult and one and a half to two years for a teen (the same as with traditional braces). However, as the aligners are clear, a teen will see improvements in their smile long before.
Dr. Yao uses the iTero scanner (nicknamed “WALL-E”) for fast and accurate digital impressions.

No more putty and trays, with the iTero scanner Dr. Yao can create accurate digital impressions and get the results back in 24 hours, cutting down the start of your Invisalign treatment by more than a week!
The iTero was created to replace the uncomfortable and imprecise method of conventional impression-taking using putty and trays. With its laser and optical scanning, it can probe into the smallest spaces and return impressions that are highly accurate and will make aligners that fit better and get a better final look.
Expert planning of your smile
Dr. Yao is an involved partner with Invisalign and as a top provider he works with his own Invisalign technical representative. He is hands-on throughout the whole process to plan the exact right series of aligners.
Once the impressions have been created, Dr. Yao sends instructions to Invisalign for the planning of the aligners. Invisalign creates a video showing each tooth movement, which Dr. Yao reviews and sends back with any tweaks.
With this careful planning Dr. Yao can make sure that your smile is just right and how you want it. It also makes him able to treat even complex straightening cases with Invisalign’s clear technology instead of traditional braces.
