In 1990, Dr. Yao enrolled in the University of the Pacific at San Francisco International Program where he not only obtained a Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree, but also received a variety of awards including the Dean’s Award for Highest Scholarship. Soon after, Dr. Yao was one of only five residents that were accepted into the University of the Pacific Orthodontics Specialty Program. Again, he was awarded the Top Alumni Outstanding Research Award in 1994.
